Savior part 2

The beasts were almost upon me. I threw the pistol hitting one in the fore head. As it hit him I turned and ran. There was a tree twenty feet in front of me. I sprinted towards it and jumped. I caught a tree branch and went straight up. I let go as I went straight up. I did a 180 to turn back towards the Maulers and then caught the tree branch again. They were too stupid to stop. I went back down and kicked both in the head at the same time. I flew forward with such force that after kicking the both I flew forward another 15 feet. I landed next to my gun. I pulled a clip outta my pocket and slammed in into the gun. As I raised the gun I noticed something. Everything was moving slowly. The maulers feet were just leaving the ground when they should have been on the ground. As I stared at them I knew that they hearts still beat. I could hear it. BANG!BAMG!BANG!BANG!
I fired two shots at each. The first went through the head and the second went through the chest. After that there hearts beat no more. But one still did. I had forgot about the one behind me. I spun around to try and shot him. But as I spun time went back to normal.
The thing was about to smack me when its head exploded. There was a kid on the river. SURFING!! Seriously. With a FREAKIN GUN! He pulled up on shore.
“You ok dude?” He asked
“Ya. Thanks.”
“No prob.”
“Why are you surfing down the river?”
“Well I’ve always wanted to but every one always said it was to ‘Dangerous’.”
“Ok.” I said as I turned around. There was one more of those things behind me. I punched in full swing in the face and it fell against the ground.
“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH”
I pointed my gun towards the sound. There was a tall muscular kid laughing. He held a rope that was tied around the dead mauler.
“OH MY GOD YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN YOUR FACE!!! PRICELESS!!!” He yelled
I turned back to the surfer dude.
“He with you?”
“Ya dude.”
I turned and shot at the guy. He tripped and fell 6 feet to the ground.
“Nice shot man. Almost hit me and still scared me.”
“What are you talking about? I missed.”
“Oh……OH….good one.”
“Who are you two exactly?”
“I’m Kenlan dude.”
“I’m Ben.”
“Ok then. What the hell are you two doing?”
”Well our friend Nate said that there was a guy he wanted us to find. He said he found him back in town and wanted us to find him.” Ben said.
“Find him for what?”
“Because we have a working car.”
“Good. Well im the guy Nate met in town. Im Zack.” I said as I walked back towards the cave. I moved what was left of the rock and walked in side.
“Candace?” Suddenly I was hit across the face with a rock. I fell against the wall. I felt my cheek and there was a HUGE gash in it. Blood ran from it.
“Oh my god!” Candace said as she jumped on me. She kept kissing me on the lips.
“I wonder what you would do if you shot me.” I said with a smile
“OH MY GOD !” she said as she jumped back blushing. “Im really sorry. I thought….That you were one of those things.”
“Not yet.”
She smiled.
“What happened.”
“I was forced to grab you and jump of the bridge after a chunk of something hit you in the side. It took a while but I got it out and stitched you up.”
“Thanks.”
Ben and Kenlan walked up.
“We gotta go dude.”
“Why?”
“Because there is like the entire zombified town coming down the path towards us.”
“WHAT!” I said as I pulled Candace to her feet.
“LETS GO THEN!”
Kenlan took off. Ben followed.
“Can you walk?”
“Ya. I think so.”
We took off after them. The maulers were running after us but we had a five minute head start. The path was narrow so lots kept falling in the water. We were going at a good pace when a Mauler jumped between the group. We and Candace were cut off. It swung and I ducked. It smacked Candace into the wall.
I stepped forward and put the gun to the things mouth. Its head disappeared. One jumped down behind us. He was shot before he hit the ground.
“DAMN BLUFFS! Isn’t there a safer way you two?”
“No! JUST RUN!”
One jumped in front of me again. I grabbed it by its head and smashed it into a wall.
“What the hells happening to me….. “
I picked up Candace and raced after Ben and Kenlan.
I looked up when I heard gun fire. At the end of the path was Nate. He had a Semi Truck.
He was blowing away maulers left and right. He saw us and ran to the cab. Seconds later the engine started. He started to drive away and the back opened. Kenlan and Ben reached it and jumped in.
“COME ON MAN MOVE!” Ben yelled.
There was no way I could make it. Not carrying both of us.
“Screw this.” I said as I jumped forward. I cleared twenty feet and landed in the truck.
“HOW!!!!????? DID YOU DO THAT!!!??” Nate yelled from up front.
“No clue.” I replied. “FLOOR IT!”

Holy Hell……..

“FLOOR IT NATE THEY ARE CATCHING UP!!” I screamed
“Well shot em!”
I turned as Kenlan and Ben did. Guns in hand we opened fire. In the truck the sound was deafening. Bullets flew by me from both sides. Many of the maulers fell dead. Most kept running through bullet wounds. As we shot them I noticed the sincerer get very similar. We were back in town.
“NATE WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!”
“I DON’T KNOW!!!! IM TRYING TO LOSE THEM!!!!!”
I ran up fron and what I saw scared me. More were up here then back there.
“Go to the bridge.”
“WHY!! YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS ALMOST DIED THERE!!!”
“JUST DO IT! THEY WONT BE ABLE TO GET ON OUR ROOF IF WE TAKE THE BRIDGE!!! NOW GO!!”
Nate floored it and sent me flying back. I stood and began firing as maulers began to jump in the truck. Ben sprinted at it and tackled it. He pulled a hammer and smashed its head in. As one jumped at Ben, Kenaln shot it dead.
“CLOSE THE DOORS!!!” I yelled as I ran to the back of the truck. I grabbed one and Kenlan grabbed the other. We closed them before more Maulers got in.
“Why did we close them?” Ben asked
“Because before we get to the bridge we need to get in the cab. The truck is too big to make the turn at this speed. So as we round the corner we have to lose the back. Which we are now standing in.”
“Ok.” Candace said as she stood up. She walked to the window and climbed through and sat next to Nate. I walked up and looked ahead of us at the bridge. I saw a man standing there.
“Why is The Zen Man standing on the bridge?” I asked Nate.
“Because he is going to blow it after we get across. Then we pick him up and head to the safe zone in hell.”
“Hell?” Kenlan asked
“Hell Michigan.”
“Oh. Sweet dude.”
“Ben and Kenlan get in the TRUCK!” I yelled. Kenlan quickly did But Ben was having trouble. I picked up his legs and threw him in when I felt the truck start turning.
“ZACK!!” I heard someone scream. The turn was so sharp that I was thrown into the wall. As I lay there I got the feeling that I wasn’t on the ground any more. I looked at the back of the truck as the doors flew open. The back of the truck was hanging off the edge. I began to slide. There was nothing to grab. I clawed against the floor as I slid.
“NO!!!! NOT LIKE THIS!!!” I yelled as I flew out the back. As I fell I reached for the handle of the back door. As I feel and reached all I could think of my was my family and of Candace. I closed my eyes to expecting to reach it. But I felt my fingers wrap aroungd the handle. The door swung back and I saw that Kenlan and Ben were outside fighting a group of maulers. Ben smashed his hammer into ones head as he kicked another. He jumped past one and took out its knees. As it fell he brought the clawed side down in its head. Kenlan punched and kicked with all his might. Every hit knocked one back and every kicked killed one. He grabbed two and smashed there heads together. I pulled my gun and shot the last three.
“GO!!! GET IN THE TRUCK AND GO!!”
“WE CANT JUST LEAVE YOU!!” Nate yelled
“THE NEEDS OF THE MANY OUTWEIGH THE NEED OF THE ONE NOW GO!”
“I WONT LEAVE YOU!” Candace yelled
“NATE!”
He looked to the ground. I looked and saw a mauler jumping of the bridge at me.
“Take care of Candace for me Nate.” I said with a smile. He covered her eyes as the Mauler tackled me. I held strong. The door didn’t. It busted off and we both fell.
I remember hitting the river. The door actually floated. I had the luger and shot gun on me. But I didn’t get a chance to pull either out before the mauler jumped at me. I fell against the door and it tried to bite me. My hand was held firm under its chin bu its was inching nearer. I punched it across the face and rolled away from it. I rolled onto my knee and tried to pulled my pistol but the thing was too fast. It grabbed me by my throat and lifted me into the air.
“Pitiful human.” It said in a deep voice.
“YOU CAN TALK?”
“Yes. Why wouldn’t we be able too?”
“BECAUSE HALF OF YOUR FREAKIN BRAIN IS GONE!”
“Yes but it can regrow.”
“JUST SHUT UP AND DIE!” I screamed as I kicked him back.
“Hahaha. Your race will die out.”
“If it wasnet for our race you wouldt be here. Would you?”
He charged me and I side stepped.
“Still dumb I see. Now I don’t exactly know if you’re the only one that is talking or if all of you are going to start but I don’t really care. My life is hell. This planet is hell. And I will kill every last one of you to turn it back to normal if need be.”
“Silly human. Can you not see? We are evolution!”
“Nope. You are a down grade.”
He charged again and tackled me. I put the barrel of my gun to his mouth.
“Know what and gun is? It makes a loud noise and kills things. MAINLY YOU!” BANG!
I shoved the body off me. I stood at the end of the door. A mauler ran along the bank after me. I smiled as he jumped for the other side of the door. As he landed I jumped into the air. I can down and sent him back up. Drawing the shot gun I fired into him. BANG!
He disappeared into the water. More ran along the bank
“GIVE ME A FREAKING BREAK FOR ONCE!!!!” I Yelled as I opened fire at the maulers. They never stopped running. They were the cattle and I was there butcher. The fell faster than I could shoot.
”How are they falling to fast?”
I spotted no one else so I kept firing. BANGBANGBANGBANG!!!!!!!!
They kept falling. One jumped on my door behind me. I turned to hit it with my but stock but I caught it.
“HEY YOU FREAK LET GO!!”
It stared at me as if it were confused.
“What you cant talk?”
It smacked my gun away.
“Take that as a no.” I grabbed it my what was left of its shirt and punched it in the face a couple times. I dropped to a knee and spun kicks its legs out from underneath him.
It landed against the ground and I beat its head in. Blood ran down my arm. As I sat over the dead body my mind drifted. I thought of how this man would never see his family again. How maybe he had even killed his family. I felt pity. And sorrow. And then hate. Hate for this entire virus. I hated the government for attacking the rest of the world with it. I hated who ever made it. I knew one was about to land on my door. I turned and shot him. I turned around again and shot another. And again. And another. Over and over. Suddenly my door stopped. I had hit the shallows. But the maulers were gone. Two people stood in front of me.
“You ok?”
“Fine. Who are you two and where did you come from?”
”Oh. Sorry for not introducing ourselves. Im Mike.”
The other guy didn’t say anything. Mike elbowed him
“Oh. Hi! Im Kevin.” Kevin said. He held a sling shot. Mike held a machete.
“You guys help me out back there?”
“Kevin did. He’s got the long range weapon. I just have this. But I can up with plans on the spot and none have ever failed.”
“Nice. Have either of you seen the cab of a semi truck in the past couple hours?”
“Nope. But we better get back to our place.”
“Place?”
“Hideout. So the maulers don’t get us. Do you know how to fix a radio?”
“YA!! DO YOU HAVE ONE!”
“Ya back at the place. Come on Kevin!”
“Right this way man!” Kevin yelled as he took off.

Short and not that good.

As I ran with them I heard a faint scream. Then another. And another.
“Wait guys. You hear that?”
“Ya. What is it?” Mike asked.
I looked at him for a second. Then bolted to my left and down the path. I ran for what musta been a couple hundred yards. I stopped at the ledge of a cliff. Kevin and Mike arrived a few seconds later. Belows us was a town. Part was Being overrun by maulers. They other part was just fine.
“They musta been unaffected until now.” Kevin said.
“They’re going to stay unaffected.”
“What do you mean?” Mike asked.
I turned and walked back along the path.
“Zack……what are you doing?”
I sprinted back and jumped off. Wind rushed around me. I knew that if I rolled I would be alright. So I hit the ground rolling. I had dropped about 20 feet down. And landed on the town. The maulers were ahead of me. They were three blocks north so I had to sprint the distance between us. I caught them easily. There were towns men every where. Where my town had gone to hell at the first sign of trouble. Every man for them self. But here they tried to help each other. Suddenly I heard Mikes voice. I looked back. Him and Kevin will still on the cliff but they had moved closer to me. Mike threw something. It stuck in the ground in front of me. It was a machete . Then I realized why he threw It too me. My guns were not on me. They must have fallen off. As I pulled it out of the ground a pellet flew past my head. I looked to see Kevin. He had a sling shot. Then I turned around. There lay a dead mauler. Shot right between the eyes. “He shot him from….Holy crap.”
I pulled the blade from the ground and sliced one down the middle. Pushing past him I cleaved the side of one s head. I leapt forward and Took out two more. I dropped down and took out ones legs. I leapt into the air and brought the blade down though its chest. I pulled it free and rammed it into ones that was charging at me chest. A man grabbed my arm and pulled me towards his squad. A mauler grabbed him. A I went to kill it one grabbed me. Mike came out of no where and cleaved both of there heads off.
“Two Machetes?”
“Always gotta have a spare.”
Suddenly an explosion knocked us on our asses.

“MOVE!” I yelled charging into the maulers. Kevin and Mike were on my tail.
“CLEAR A PATH!!” I yelled as I cut down two. I dropped and took out some legs. I brought it up under ones chin. Three pellets flew past my head killing more. Mike jumped and landed next to me cutting down one. I ducked as Mike turned around and cut another down. He jumped into the air as I swung my blade underneath him killing one. I stood and moved behind him and he did the same. We stood back to back killing Maulers. Kevin stood on a trashed car taking out Maulers in groups of fives. As me and Mike fought the monsters I noticed that we were outnumbered and surrounded.
I knew we wouldn’t last much longer. But we fought on. Suddenly a chainsaw wielding man cut through the crowd.
“ZEN MAN!” I yelled.
He pointed behind me. I looked to see Kenlan and Ben Kicking ass and taking names.
The Zen Man cut a hole in the crowd and signaled to follow him. I chopped of ones head as I followed. Ben had a look of death on his face. He was beating down maulers with his bare hands. I broke away from my group and ran to help Kenlan and Ben. I ran and slide under ones legs cutting his legs off as I did. As I slide toward Ben I tossed the Machete straight up. He jumped over me and caught it bringing it down on an enemy. Kenlan was mowing down maulers with an ozie . As I slide he tossed it to me and I sot down a couple. I stood and turned. Ben was tossing the Machete to Kenlan. I tossed the ozie to him then grabbed a mauler by the throat and smashed his head into the ground.
Kenlan tossed me the machete.
“Where’s Nate?” I yelled
“He bringing the truck dude. That’s why we have to get to the protected part of town.” Kenlan yelled
“Why? Its just a truck!”
“A truck filled with explosives!” Ben yelled as he spotted the truck on the edge of town.
“MOVE” I yelled as we sprinted to the other side of town. As we ran I knew why the called it the protected part. It was surrounded by cliffs on all sides expect for the side that connected the town together. We reached it as the truck neared. He was on a collision course with the main group of them. He floored it and went to jump out. But a car pulled out in front of him. It didn’t stop the truck but it did stop Nate. I had started sprinting there as soon as I saw the car start moving. The explosives controller was still in the air. If it shattered against the ground then the explosives would go off killing all humans. I went right over the hood over the car. I was inches away from it. It was inches away from the ground. I caught it and crashed against the ground. I waited for a few seconds. The truck crashed into the army of maulers. I pulled the trigger.

BOOM!!!!!!

The maulers were gone. I almost smiled. But that’s when I noticed that the man that tried to kill Nate was pulling a gun. He was about to shoot. The machete went right though the gun and into the side of the car. The man pulled a knife and charged me. He held it out front as he charged . A simple spin kick knocked it out of his hands. But he tackled me against the ground. I planted both feet in the middle of his chest and kicked him off.
We both rolled to our feet.
“Why would you try that!?” I yelled
“Because!”
“BECAUSE WHY YOU SICK #%^*!!!”
“Because they are the next step in evolution. Ive heard them. They can talk. Like normal humans. They are evolving.”
“ You’re paranoid.”
“No I’m not.”
“Yes you are.” I said with a worried look on my face.
“You’ve heard them haven’t you.”
“NO! And If they do talk what the hell would they talk about!”
“About how we are pitiful. And how many or who they’ve killed.”:
“LIAR!”
“I can see it in your eyes. You’ve heard them.”
“THEY ARE NOT EVOLOUTION!!! “
“Then what are they?”
“Freaks. Monsters.”
“Why because they kill? Humans have killed since the beginning of time. You have to think of this as war. The more powerful side killing the weaker side. Making a perfect world.”
“NAZI!!”
”Ha. Hitler had no idea his original idea would become this.”
”Hitler? How could he have made this?”
“He didn’t make it. It was one of his many ideas of how to rule. Your government wanted a cure incase some one could ever create it. But you cant cure something that isn’t real./ So they made it. Made it to cure it. Its funny aint it.”
“Whats funny?”
“That they made this to protect there people and it turned out to kill them all.”
He rolled his ugly face back and let out a burst of laughter. I charged and punched him in the throat. Still gasping he tried to trip me. I dodged it and rammed his face into my knee. He fell against his car. I pulled my machete and held it above my head.
“These people. They almost died helping each other. And you almost killed them all. You’re sick.”
“And your about to become a murderer.”
“I know.” I plunged the blade into the middle of his chest. Pulled it back out. Wiped it off. Then went to help Nate.

TWO HOURS LATER>

“Who ya doing Nate?” I asked
“Fine.”
“Where did you guys go?”
“The stronghold In hell.”
“You went all the way across the state and back in 6 hours?”

Mike walked in. Kevin followed.

“Hey Mike and Kevin.”
“Hey.” Mike answered.
:Kevin didn’t.
“Zack you don’t know how long you were out before we found you do you?”
“What do you mean?”
“Me and Kevin saw you fall into the river. Then we went down the bluffs to find you. It took 3 hours to get down the bluffs and 4 hours before we got to you.”
“So I fell off the bridge almost 16 hours ago?”
“Yup.” Mike answered
“Zack. I don’t know if you want to go To Hell.”
“Why not?”
“Because. There are five rulers there. Each controls a part of the city. But those five men do what ever they want. One of them wanted my truck of Candace. Candace offered herself. That was the last I heard from her.”
”GOD !!!!!”
“Im sorry man.”
I punched the wall. Again and again.
A man came in.
“We have a serious problem.”
“What!?” I yelled.
“Its an army of maulers. Almost four times bigger that the group that attacked us.”
“Shit. Were can we hide the people?”
“This is the only part of town left. And its not big enough to even hold a quarter of the people we have here now.”
“Then were need to leave.”
“But the maulers move faster the humans Zack. You know that better then any one here.” Nate said.
“Then we fight. A small group stays behind to hold them off and the they get the hell outta dodge when the city is far enough away.” Kevin said out of no where.
“Wow. That might work. Nice job Kevin.” I said
Kevin didn’t say anything.
“You.” I said pointing to the messenger. “Get any man that has a gun or has killed one before and tell hi that he stays here unless I say so ok?”
The guy ran out the door as Kenlan and Ben walked in.
“We are all staying behind. Were going to show those bastard hell! Get any weapon or armor you want. The army will be here any time. So hurry.”

I walked to the very back of town and found an over turned swat van. I found a Kevlar body suit in side. It fit like a glove. I walked back to the front of town and saw who was staying behind. 8 men.
“WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!”
“Well the other guys said that you weren’t the boss of them and left with there familys.” One said. Kenlan walked up wearing a wet suit.
“That your armor?”
“Nothin better dude.”
I shrugged it off. I saw some one covered in spikes. I wouldn’t have any clue who it was if not for the Sign on his chest that read “You cant have my organs!”
Mike walked up in a make shift Samurai armor. Kevin had no armor and wouldn’t answer me why. Ben had found what appeared to be a bronze Brest plate and I didn’t even want to know where he got that. Nate had a swat suit like me. Then we all had our own weapon. The 8 men with us all had rifles. We marched into the center of the city and stood as the army of maulers came into view.
“TONIGHT WE DINE IN “ Ben began to yell
“HEY. Were do you get yelling that great line from that great movie?” I said with a smile

The first lost........

The team collided with the army of maulers. I brought down my machete that I held in my left hand as I shot my pistol which was in my right. The maulers were easy enough to kill. One good swing to the head or chest would kill them. Shot too. It was amazing. The Zen man looked like he had done this before. He glided through the army with ease cutting them to ribbons with his chainsaw. Every time one would grab him the spikes of his armor would hurt them. Mike was covering my back and I was covering his. We both had a Machete and pistol so I worked well. Kenlan had a baseball bat covered in nails. I could see why he choose the wet suit as armor. It protected him well enough. But it was so easy for him to move. Who needed armor when you could move like him. Ben looked like a Spartan. He had a short sword and a bronze chest plate. I suppose that he might have found it at a museum. Kevin had stayed back with the 8 men. The men could shoot well but Kevin was our saving grace. Every time one of those this could kill us, he shot it. Nate beat them down with a club. I jumped over a couple and killed one with a shot to the head. I rammed my blade behind me killing one then brought it back and up taking out another. One jumped at me. I shot him. I knew that none of the others were thinking what I was thinking. We were killing. Not just men. But women and children. A child jumped at me and tried to claw out my eyes. He looked like my little brother. I…. I was ….I had to shot him. Every time I was forced to kill a child I grew a little darker inside. It was real. For some reason though out all that I’ve went through I guess I didn’t think it was real. But now. Having to kill children. I knew it was real. We continued on. Killing. Trying to give the one left a chance. A head start. Even though even more hell awaited them at hell. Ironic. The entire living population of this town is going to hell. I watched my friends fight. Not even fight for them selves. They fought for people the didn’t even know. People they never meet. That’s when I realized. We were winning. They were falling so fast. But that’s when I heard Kevin scream. That kids hardly said 20 words since I meet him let alone scream. I turned around to see that maulers had killed 6 of the men and were about to kill the rest. Including Kevin. Me, Mike, and Ben were off at a dead sprint. Ben left the ground in a mighty leap. He crashed down on a couple of them and began slicing them down the middle. Mike started cutting through them to get to his friend. A few shots later and Kevin was safe. But then I heard a scream. Not of terror. But of pain. I turned to see The Zen man with a huge pipe in his chest. I sprinted through the army and grabbed him. We all darted into a building an closed the door behind us. I laid him against the floor.
“Zen?”
“Zack…”
“Holy crap you do talk.”
“Laugh it up now….”
“Dude you have to pull through.”
“But I’m not. I know I’m not. This seems weird but I have to say it. The reason I act like this is because I lost my daughter. She was killed by those damn things.”
“YOU? Had a kid…..”
“I’m only 22. But its not the point. I heard that you lost your family. Don’t let it drive you mad.” He said. He had a smile on his face. “ Duck.”
“What?”
He pushed me away and ran to the window. HE jumped out screaming duck. We did.

BOOOOOMMMMMMMM!!!!!

Spikes shot through the window and stuck into the walls. Spikes were every where.
I looked out the widow. He must have killed half of them.
I picked up his chainsaw. Pulled the cord and listened to it purr.
“Lets finish this. FOR ZEN!” I yelled as I kicked open the door.
