I can tell because of that sleak style he makes. A shame it took him forever to do a bimonthly book though. |

Guys... Watchmen was everything I thought it would be. My friend works at AMC Theaters and told us they were screening it early for the hell of it and we got to witness it at 3:00. Damn, I cannot stress how unbelievable it was to watch the opening scene. It has this song that stuck to my head. Anyways, the storyline is pretty much the same 'cept for the final act. I was kinda thrown off, but still... Zack Snyder did a job well done with this gem. Was Watchmen badass? Yes. Is it a cinematic success? It better be! I bet my friend it'd do better than Twilight!
Guys, watch this movie as soon as you get the chance. Comic book films don't get better than this...

I really wanna see Rorscach without his mask, mainly cause Jackie Earl Haley looks nothing like Walter Kovacs and it'll be cool to see how he pulls it off but also because the scenes in the prison and the therapy scenes are probably the best in the comic IMHO.
But also because he kicks dwarf gangster butt in that part _________________ PROUD MEMBER OF THE ULTIMATE MARVELS!!!!

Haley seemed like a slimmer Clint Eastwood to me... But, damn, I nearly teared up towards the end when he gets his sendoff. I mean, the guy represents the rebel that I can relate with... It was sooo tragic. _________________ Proud Member of The Ultimate Marvels!!

I really enjoyed Watchmen, it was amazing seeing the graphic novel come to life. The opening scene was possibly the best of any movie I've ever seen. The opening credits were really cool as well. I thought Dr. Manhattan looked great and all of the acting ranged from good to excellent. My two favorite performances were Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the Comedian and Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach. Seriously, Haley impressed the hell out of me. He nailed Rorschach, and that pretty much made the whole film for me. Morgan made me a bigger fan of the Comedian, as much as he seems like a jackass....I can't help but think he's awesome. I thought Patrick Wilson pulled off a pretty convincing Nite Owl as well. Ozymandias pretty much worked for me, looked a bit younger than I imagined but I think it worked pretty well.
My favorite scenes were; the opening scene, the prison break scene, Dr. Manhattan's origin story, the Comedian funeral and flashbacks,and every scene with Rorschach. Seriously. I'm probably forgetting some other parts, I didn't hate any parts. The end was a bit different than I envisioned, but all in all it was probably a smarter and easier route, and it worked. I loved the little tweak in Ror's death which was (SPOILER);
Nite Owl was present when it occurred. I wanted that to happen in the graphic novel, as Dan seemed to be Ror's only friend. It was nice to see someone who felt as I did when he died. It added to the overall tragic effect for me.
Anyways, the film had that overall dreadful feeling like in the novel. That constant fear of nuclear holocaust. The overall mood throughout was very dark, which was awesome. If I had any real complaints, the only one that comes to mind was the almost complete absence of the newspaper guy and the kid who read the comic. I know that the animated movie coming out in a few weeks is gonna take care of the comic, so that's cool. And I do understand the time constraints that restricted that. So I don't blame them for it, I just wish they'd been present more.
So overall, it made a few changes to the graphic novel but it was as faithful as an adaption you'll ever see. The characters felt the same; Rorschach was AWESOME! All in all, I loved it. It was a truly great comic film that made me want to read the graphic novel again. Which I'm in the process of now. I saw it twice, the first time I saw it I would have said 4.5/5. I think this movie gets better upon multiple viewings. So after the second time, my overall score of Watchmen is:
5/5 - Watchmen had the same feel of the classic novel, but in a different format and from a different perspective. It was truly awesome to see it come to life, long live Watchmen. _________________ "THE ULTIMATE MARVEL TRIVIA GAME! C'mon it's Fun!"

Up into the last time we see them in the book, we see them in the movie...
That LittleBigPlannet vid is genius... I actually made a Rorschach Sackboy on my friend's account.
Watching this in IMAX was amazing... The first time I saw it was on a normal screen, but, hot damn, the second time, I felt like I was watching a different film! _________________ Proud Member of The Ultimate Marvels!!

Oh, I almost forgot about the soundtrack... I fucking loved when they play Tears for Fears' Everybody Wants to Rule the World elevator muzak style while Veidt is talking to a bunch of business men. Beautiful example of foreshadowing... _________________ Proud Member of The Ultimate Marvels!!
